資訊落差活動(information gap activity)是屬於溝通式活動中的一種。資訊落差活動
是藉由參與者中間互相將資訊交換，來達到完成一個任務（Prabhu ,1987）。 在資訊落差
的活動中，一個人必須有一定的信息與他人共享，以解決一個問題、收集資料或作出決
定（Neu & Reeser, 1997）。這個類型的活動在學習第二外語課堂是非常有效的，老師在
課堂上給每個學生一段時間使用目標語言發言的機會，讓學生自然而然說出更多言論。
此外，學生會認為資訊落差活動中與同伴練習對話比起在全班面前說話輕鬆容易多了。
資訊落差的活動另一個優點是：學生被迫進行有意義的交涉，因為他們必須說出讓別人
理解的對話，以完成任務
