Applied P.1351 Verapamil for migraine prophylaxis: “ Observable benefits from this treatment may not be apparent for 3 to 8 weeks; as a result, verapamil should be continued for at least 2 months to properly evaluate response to therapy. This is one of the limiting properties of calcium- channel antagonists. If an adequate response is not achieved in this interval, the verapamil dose can be increased weekly by increments of 80 mg to a maximum of 480 mg/day.” |
