(一) To many people around the world, “hula” may conjure images of plastic dancers shaking their hips on car dashboards. But long before hula was commodified, it was a sacred dance among Native Hawaiians – an ancient practice that served as an archive of their stories, beliefs and way of life. There was no written language in ancient Hawai'i. Instead, the Hawaiians used oral tradition and hula to pass on their identity and culture from one generation to the next.

(二) In 1869, three central New York women led the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) for women’s voting rights. Elizabeth Candy Stanton, an organizer of the 1848 women’s rights convention, and activist Susan B. Anthony are well-known. The third, Matilda Josyn Cage, was almost forgotten due to her radicalism. Unlike the other two, Gage aimed to extend human rights to all Americans, including Black and Indigenous individuals.
