Over the past century, women have gained important rights, including voting, equal pay, and protection from discrimination. However, despite progress, gender inequality still exists in many aspects of society. Women continue to face challenges related to stereotypes, expectations, and unequal opportunities.
One key issue is confidence and social expectations. Laura Deller, a teacher and DIY influencer, highlights how girls are often discouraged from entering fields traditionally associated with men, such as construction or engineering. Through workshops, she encourages young women to develop practical skills and overcome limiting beliefs. Many girls feel empowered when given these opportunities, yet stereotypes continue to influence their choices.
In education, gender differences are still visible. Female students remain underrepresented in subjects like physics and engineering. Some girls hesitate to choose these fields because they expect male-dominated classrooms. In professional settings, women may also encounter bias and self-doubt. Leadership roles are still often associated with men, and women may experience “imposter syndrome.” Furthermore, behaviors such as assertiveness can be judged differently depending on gender.
Although progress has been made, achieving true gender equality requires continued effort. Addressing stereotypes, promoting equal opportunities, and supporting shared responsibilities at home and work are essential steps toward a more balanced society
