第二篇:
Mangrove forests store more planet-warming carbon dioxide than almost any other ecosystem on Earth.
Recent research says that the loss of these forests is 46 large amounts of greenhouse gases in Earth’s
atmosphere. As greenhouse gases trap warm air in the atmosphere, most climate scientists believe that the gases
are 47 , at least in part, for climate change. Mangrove forests are found along coasts in tropical countries
48 the warm water often serves as a home for fish and other creatures. These plants and trees also help 49
coastal areas from storm damage. In sea shores where carbon-rich forests are popular, mangroves are found to
store about three to four times 50 carbon per hectare as temperate forests or even tropical rainforests. Most
of the carbon is hidden in the soil and tree roots where Mangroves grow.
