「使役動詞」理論上只有「make（使；叫）」、「have（叫；敎）」、「let（讓）」、「bid（命令；吩咐）」＆「help（幫忙）」，後面都該接「原形動詞」；「否定句」只需在「原形動詞」前面直接加上「not」就可以了。

*「help」後頭亦可接「不定詞（to＋原V.）」。

但有些動詞，本身具有「使役動詞」的感覺或涵義，但是後頭卻是要接「不定詞（to＋原V.）」（不過有些文法書仍將它們列為『使役動詞』）。

例如「ask（要求）」、「want（想要）」＆「tell（告訴）」。
