Note the peripherally located myofiber nuclei and cross-striations on the muscle fibers.

The cross-striations correspond to the A bands (dark lines) and I bands (light lines) in the transmission electron micrograph of Fig. 15-3, B.

Myofibers are surrounded by an extensive capillary network (arrow).
