24. For the Kazakh people in Central Asia, hunting with eagles is one of the highest expressions
of their cultural heritage.
(A) Today, the Kazakhs do not preserve the time-honored tradition of eagle hunting to get
food or make money.
(B) With an eagle’s meals amounting to half a kilogram of meat a day, hunting with an eagle
is certainly not for economic gain.
(C) Rather, eagle-hunting is a sport that involves sophisticated techniques and requires a
combination of strength, gentleness, and a heroic spirit.
(D) Traditionally, wild baby eagles were taken from the nest to be trained as hunting birds,
but now this practice is strictly limited.
