4.Strain gauges a and b are attached to the surface of a gas tank. The strain gauge a is attached in the longitudinal direction (x axis) and b is arranged at an angle of 45⁰ with x axis, as shown in Fig.1. The tank has an inner diameter of 1.5 m and wall thickness of 25 mm. It is made of steel having a modulus of elasticity E = 200 GPa and Poisson’s ratio ν = 1/3.
