The Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has announced moves to cut the working day by two hours and bring an end to the traditional siesta, in an attempt to bring the country into line with its European counterparts.Spaniards usually start work at 10am and then remain at their desks until 2pm when they depart for lunches that can last up to three hours, giving some the chance to slip home for a siesta. Once they return to their desks at 4pm or 5pm they may not leave for home until 8pm. Prime time television programs in Spain start at 10pm and go on until 2am.
