Coast guard personnel must patrol the seas around the clock and closely monitor illegal fishing, smuggling, drug trafficking,human trafficking, and other activities that may threaten national security. In addition, Taiwan’s long coastline and complex coastal geography make coast guard duties even more demanding and difficult.
