要點一：a lot of許多
a lot of的意思是「許多」，可以取代many，後接複數可數名詞，也可取代much，後接不可數名詞。如下例所示：
1. Sherry has a lot of hats. (Sherry有很多頂帽子。)
(= Sherry has many hats.)
2. Ed drank a lot of water. (Ed喝了很多水。) (= Ed drank much water.)
不過，一般說來，many和much多用於否定句跟疑問句，而a lot of則用於肯定句。
