The surge in plant parenting can be attributed to several factors. With an increasing emphasis on wellness and mindfulness, many people have discovered the therapeutic effects of __16__ living plants.         As Navy SEALs, one of our jobs is to conduct underwater attacks against enemy shipping. We practiced this __21__ extensively during training. The ship attack mission is where a pair of SEAL divers is dropped off outside an enemy harbor and then swims well over two miles — underwater — using nothing __22__ a depth gauge and a compass to get to their target. 

        During the entire swim, even well below the surface, there is some light that comes through. It is __23__ to know that there is open water above you. But as you __24__ the ship, which is tied to a pier, the light begins to __25__ . The steel structure of the ship blocks the moonlight.        To be successful in your mission, you have to swim under the ship and find the keel — the centerline and the deepest part of the ship. This is your __27__ . But the keel is also the darkest part of the ship — where you cannot see your hand in front of your face, where the noise from the ship’s machinery is __28__ , and where it is easy to get __29__ and you can fail. 

       Every SEAL knows that under the keel, at the darkest moment of the mission, is the time when you must be calm, when you must be __30__ — when all your tactical skills, your physical power, and all your inner strength must be brought to bear.

        Mercy killings pose complicated legal questions, as defendants in these cases are morally differentiated from others in the law of homicide. The intense public debate that these cases do not deserve to be punished under the law of murder and manslaughter led the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in 2022 to propose a list of public interest factors relevant when deciding whether to prosecute. __31__ While compassion is difficult to define, it relates to a strong identification or sympathy towards a loved one in serious suffering. __32__  

       Firstly, it was proposed that an additional factor should be added against prosecution, examining whether the suspect had a reasonable belief that the victim was under intense suffering. __33__ Furthermore, a second factor should be added against prosecution when the suspect has a close relationship with the victim. __34__ Finally, the CPS's guidelines on mercy killings already focus on whether the suspect acted after the victim's request to end their life. Such considerations are important in end-of-life decisions and should be retained in the guidelines to prevent abuse and ensure the victim's autonomy. __35__ Compassion is felt when the suspect sees a loved one enduring physical or mental suffering, regardless of whether the victim requests to end their life. 

        The proposal for creating a prosecutorial policy on mercy killing is one significant step in a much wider discussion. Since the CPS published the proposed update to legal guidance on homicide in 2022, no further progress has been made in this area. __36__ If the policy is passed, it will be a welcomed update to this area of the law. It will facilitate a more sympathetic approach to mercy killing cases without putting the suspect through the distress of a criminal trial. __37__

 (AB) This policy places much emphasis on the suspect being compassionately motivated. (AC) However, they are irrelevant in examining the suspect's motivations. (AD) Nonetheless, before the policy comes into effect, additional factors should be included for the guidelines to appropriately work and effectively assist prosecutors in identifying the suspect's compassionate motives. (AE) This factor will better ensure that the suspect's actions were a reasonable and proper expression of compassion. (BC) However, this significant development must maintain its momentum. (BD) In light of this, some policy adjustments to the CPS's guidelines were discussed to help prosecutors identify the suspects’ compassionate motives. (BE) This factor will impose an evidential question of whether it was credible for the suspect to end the victim's suffering based on their relationship.

        Do you know that any Atlantic salmon you buy, whether it’s Norwegian or not, is farm raised? Wild Atlantic salmon do exist, and they used to be abundant in the Northeastern coastal rivers of the U.S. But due to habitat destruction and overfishing, they are now considered an endangered species. Thus, the global commercial fishing industry turned to farming fish like salmon on an industrial scale to meet the worldwide demand. 

        The fish farming game isn’t much different than any other type of livestock farming. It involves crowded man-made environments that can leave farmed fish more susceptible to infections and disease. To counter this problem, antibiotics can be added to the fish feed, and those antibiotics ultimately end up on the plate and in the stomach of the person consuming the fish. That vibrant pink hue that you look for in Atlantic salmon is just a byproduct of supplements that are added to the fish feed to mimic the natural food that wild salmon eat. So, that Atlantic salmon you toss into your grocery cart was originally a milky gray color. Varieties like coho, sockeye, or king salmon are wild caught and are naturally a darker, pinkish-orange color. 

        Wild caught and farm raised salmon also differ in nutritional value. Wild salmon is more nutritionally dense than farm-raised salmon and can contain up to three times less fat, fewer calories, and more vitamins and minerals like iron, potassium, and b-12. But it isn’t nearly as widely available as farmed salmon and can be cost-prohibitive to the average consumer. Depending on the time of year and a host of environmental factors, certain varieties of wild salmon can be so abundant that they rival the price of farmed salmon. Buy wild fish when you can and get farmed when your budget needs a breather.
