Henry: Hey, Jane. Are you doing anything after work today?

       As ninth-grade students, many of you may be getting tired of all those tests you have to take and all the homework you have to do every day. Yet, have you ever thought not every child in the world is as lucky as you are? Not every child can go to school, and even some have to fight for it almost at the cost of their lives, like Malala Yousafzai. 

       Who is Malala Yousafzai? She's a girl of about your age from Swat Valley, Pakistan, which is ruled by the Taliban and where girls __13.__ like boys. However, most people there are too scared of the Taliban to speak up. You can see even the Taliban understand that studying at school will make people become smarter and then have their own thoughts and ideas, which is what the Taliban don't want for women. Knowing__ 14.__ . Malala wasn't afraid at all and kept trying her best to let the outside world know about their problems when she was only twelve years old. On October 9t, 2012, a gunman got on Malala's school bus, asking, "Which one of you is Malala?" He fired three shots at Malala, which almost killed her. Luckily, she was sent to a hospital in England soon after, and she became well later. Did the attack __15.__ ? As she said in her CNN interview, "They can kill Malala, but they can't kill my cause." 

       Do you still feel your life is so terrible? Think of Malala, and maybe you will thank for what you have more. 

       Are you a right-brain or left-brain thinker? Our brain has two parts and each of them deals with different things. The right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body. The left side appears to do a better job with some activities； however, the right side is excellent at dealing with others. 

       People who are left-brain thinkers are often better at math and science. People who are right-brain thinkers often get more interested in art and sports. Left-brain thinkers love to work things out by talking. Right-brain thinkers think that actions speak louder than words. They often think outside the box. They think in different ways and look farther. Left-brain thinkers are often better at names and right-brain thinkers are often good at faces. People who are left-brained always plan their actions and list things that they have to do, like a to-do list. Right-brained people, on the other hand, don't like to make plans and often act on how they feel.

        Although people often use one half of the brain more than the other, both sides are important. People need to exercise both halves of the brain as much as possible.

       On the hot and dry land in Africa, a group of thirsty elephants were heading for a water pool less than a mile away. Not knowing why, all of the elephants stopped, with their big ears standing high up in the air. Though it appeared that nothing could be heard, the elephants decided to turn from where the water pool was and walked away quickly. Why was that? What happened? 

       In man's world, communication today becor mes so casy with the help of high technology. We can keep in touch with anyone in almost any part of tho planct in no time. But, what about animals? Animals' communication has been interesting scientists all around the world. After a long time of studying, they have found some really surprising facts. Let's go back to those elephants we just talked about. We can see from the elephants' acts that they're listening to something, and what they have heard tells them to run away. Scientists have found that elephants have their own language to speak with others far away. This special language is spoken infrasound -- sound which is so low that it can't be heard by our ears.

        Now do you still think man is the only animal that can "'talk" to each other?
