Questions 153, 154 refer to the following email.
From: Arch Shinzo
To: HR Manager
Date: April 30
Subject: request

Dear Komiya Trucco,

I am writing to request unpaid time off. Four months after the company relocated me to the Sapporo branch, I found it hard to become accustomed to living away with my family although we video chat on a daily basis. I have to combat the constant desire to spend time with them and therefore can hardly stay focused at work. Obviously most of the mistakes I’ve made in recent weeks can be avoided and fortunately they were not fatal mistakes. Now I regret not taking their advice and getting promoted. I am very apologetic about lost productivity and my struggles with loneliness.

It would be better if I spent some time trying to be at peace with myself and spent quality time with my family to make up for lost time. I believe that very soon I will come back with renewed enthusiasm. So can I have your permission to take two months off starting on June 1?

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely yours,
Arch Shinzo

Questions 181~185 refer to the following article and online comment chain.
One year after the Mega-Urban-Bus (the MUB) completed its e-ticketing system, the leading bus company is proud to announce the results of the passenger satisfaction survey and the plans to improve the system.

To gain a clear understanding of passenger experience, the MUB conducted the survey during the second half of last year. The results reveal that the majority of the surveyed passengers are very satisfied when it comes to keeping passengers informed. This has proven guiding and informing passengers in real-time can contribute greatly to a positive experience. Therefore, the MUB has decided to invest more in the solution to integrating the e-ticketing system with the information system so the MUB can monitor operations, provide accurate real-time information for passengers, and react to incidents proactively and effectively.

Approximately ninety percent of the survey participants were full of praise for the new e-ticketing system due mainly to its convenience, such as avoiding long waits in front of a ticket booth. The system allows a passenger to touch-in and touch-out at a smart reader using his or her contactless payment card or device and an app is free to use when a passenger would like to download his or her transaction records, Proof of Top-up or Proof of Travel for bus journeys. In addition, one wow factor the app users stated in the survey was the big discounts not available for passengers paying in cash.

Despite the amazing results, the MUB will continue to encourage the use of the e-ticketing system and the app by advertising the benefits on a variety of social media platforms. A specific example is to launch a series of promo videos made by a few content creators. By then the number of satisfied passengers will hopefully have soared.

Every bus is struggling to arrive punctually, which is the biggest issue needed addressing immediately. By the way, the English version of the app is not very user-friendly on account of too many typos.

Laura Caldwell

I paid in cash for several bus journeys but soon realized I was overcharged when I found the big discount only offered by the prepaid card service. The staff member at the station information desk said I could never get a refund with apparent indifference.

From: Sandy Koufax
To: Topspin Bus Company

I am a regular commuter and take Bus No. 58 to work from Monday to Friday. Last Tuesday morning, I waited for the bus at the Great Queens Park stop as usual. It was supposed to arrive at 7:55 am. However, at 8:25 am, when trying to communicate with the customer service representative via instant messaging in the Topspin Bus app, I found it wasn’t working. I got into panic that I would be late for work due to the 30-minute delay and the issue of the app.

Although the bus finally arrived ten minutes later, I was actually late for work and won't be eligible for this month’s perfect attendance bonus. I might accept traffic delays but I was furious at the impatient bus driver who refused to issue me with a delay certificate. As the driver’s employer, you should take punitive action against the driver.

Best Regards,
Sandy Koufax

Questions 181~185 refer to the following email and news release.

Subject: Complaint regarding unreliable bus service

Dear Local Public Transportation Authority of Sydney,

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Sandra Carl, and I am a resident of Sydney and a regular user of the Tai-power bus services. I am writing to express my concerns about the recent unreliable bus service and the possible reasons behind it, which I believe require immediate attention from the concerned authorities.

Over the past few months, I have noticed a pattern of buses being canceled on the [specific bus route] at my local community stop. Unfortunately, these cancellations have occurred without any prior notice or explanation, leaving me and other passengers stranded and without a reliable means of transportation. This has caused significant inconvenience and, at times, has resulted in missed appointments and additional expenses for alternative transportation.

I suspect that the bus company may be deliberately canceling buses during periods of low demand as a cost-saving measure, which is unacceptable. I understand that businesses need to manage their resources efficiently, but not at the expense of the community's needs. It is disappointing to see that the bus company may be prioritizing its profits over providing a reliable service to its passengers.

Moreover, I believe that the company is assuming that the affected passengers will not report these incidents, thus avoiding any potential consequences. This is an irresponsible and unethical approach to business practices, which should not be tolerated.

I am writing to request a thorough investigation into the matter. I look forward to your prompt response and a resolution to this issue.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Sandra Carl

Sydney Transportation Authority Confirms Cancellation of Bus Services Without Notice Sydney, Australia - The Local Public Transportation Authority of Sydney has confirmed that bus services on a specific route have been canceled without notice, causing inconvenience to passengers. The Authority received a complaint from a resident of Sydney, Sandra Carl, about the frequent cancellation of buses on the Tai-power bus services route.

After an investigation, the Authority found that the cancellation of buses without notice had indeed occurred, and that this was a violation of the bus company's service contract with the Authority. The Authority expresses its sincere apologies to the affected passengers for the inconvenience caused.

Furthermore, the Authority will take strict action against the staff members responsible for the cancellation of services without notice. The Authority will work closely with the bus company to ensure that such incidents do not occur again in the future.

"The Local Public Transportation Authority of Sydney is committed to providing reliable and safe transportation services to the community," said a spokesperson for the Authority. "We will not tolerate any violation of our service contracts by our partners, and we will take appropriate measures to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future."

The Authority urges passengers to report any incidents of canceled bus services without notice, and to provide as much information as possible, such as the date, time, and bus number, to assist in the investigation.

For more information, please contact the Local Public Transportation Authority of Sydney.

【題組】185. What action will be taken against the staff members responsible for the cancellation of services without notice?
(A)They will be given a warning.
(B) They will be suspended without pay.
(C)They will be fired.
(D) No action will be taken against them.

Questions186~190 refer to the following news story, and social media post.

London's fashion industry is facing scrutiny over concerns of high staff turnover among young employees. Sarah, a former e-commerce assistant at a global luxury brand, shared her experience of the industry's grueling work environment with reporters. "Like many young people, my passion was fashion," Sarah explains. "But the reality wasn't quite so glamorous."

After less than a year of working in fashion retail, Sarah secured an e-commerce assistant role in the head office of a global luxury brand. However, Sarah highlights that there was always a high turnover rate among young employees, especially those in low-level positions. "It was just a never-ending cycle of impressionable young workers, and nothing was done to address it - it just became a test of endurance," Sarah states.

According to Sarah, young workers often faced unpaid manual labor, long hours, and burnout. Some interns only lasted a week before quitting, while others left after a few months. Sarah's account highlights the need for fair and supportive work environments in the fashion industry, particularly for its young and impressionable workforce.

London's fashion industry is a major employer, with a high concentration of luxury brands and retailers. With concerns of staff turnover and worker exploitation, industry experts are calling for action to improve working conditions and reduce burnout among young employees. The industry must address the issue of staff turnover and ensure that young workers are not subjected to a never-ending cycle of exploitation and endurance.

by FashionLover247
It's great to see someone finally speaking up about the harsh reality of the fashion industry. It's important to acknowledge and address the exploitation of young workers, and I hope that this will lead to positive changes in the industry.

by WorkersRights1337
This is not surprising at all. The fashion industry has a reputation for overworking and underpaying its employees. It's unfortunate that young people with a passion for fashion have to go through this kind of exploitation.

by IndustryInsider1010
This is just another example of the fashion industry's lack of concern for its workers. It's time for the industry to step up and prioritize the well-being of its employees instead of just focusing on profits.

by SJWarrior469
It's a shame that the fashion industry continues to perpetuate this cycle of exploitation and burnout. The industry needs to start valuing its employees and providing fair working conditions if it wants to attract and retain young talent.

Hey everyone! As someone who has been fortunate enough to have a successful career in the fashion industry, I want to address some of the negative comments I've seen recently about the industry. It's true that there are challenges, but there are also incredible opportunities for young people who are passionate about fashion.

I've seen firsthand the hard work and dedication that goes into creating beautiful designs, and I know that there are countless talented individuals out there who would thrive in this industry. Yes, there are some companies that don't treat their employees fairly, but there are also many brands that prioritize their workers' well-being and provide supportive work environments.

So if you're a young person with a love for fashion, don't let the negative comments discourage you. Pursue your dreams and find a company that values your talent and potential. Together, we can work towards creating a fashion industry that is fair, supportive, and inspiring for everyone involved.
