Questions 33-35
Jack lived in a rural area in Florida, USA when he was a little child. His parents and neighbors always warned him not to go near the swamp not far from his home. They all said that there were alligators there. Even though Jack was curious about what an alligator looks like, he chose to listen to the adults.
One day, Jack brought his ball out to play with his friends. The children happily threw the ball around, then it slipped out of a boy's hand by accident. It rolled down a slope and went towards the swamp. All the children looked at each other with scared faces. Finally Jack said, "I'll go get it!", and then ran off to the swamp. He wasn't worried about running into an alligator because he saw exactly where the ball was. He only needed to pick it up as fast as he could and go back to his friends.
As Jack picked up the ball, he saw a large alligator at the other side of the swamp. It looked at Jack, and Jack looked back at it. Suddenly, the alligator went into the water, and Jack ran back as fast as he could. The children saw him running back and asked, "What happened?" Jack was breathing so hard he couldn't speak. He was definitely going to tell everyone what he had seen!
