Feeling as if you are being watched? You probably are. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA)美國運輸安全管理局 in the United States recently began rolling out提供(產品或服務)a new security program, Screening篩選 Passengers by Observation觀察 Techniques (SPOT), at dozens of airports around the country. Using behavioral(關於)行為的 profiling罪犯特徵分析, SPOT aims to identify “high-risk individuals” by monitoring監測器 passengers’ body language.

Under this initiative新措施, “behavior detection officers” are trained to recognize involuntary非自願、不由自主的 gestures, subtle微妙 facial twitches顫動, and changes in vocal pitch that signal stress or deceit欺騙.

A passenger displaying suspicious behavior is taken aside for additional外加 screening. But do such programs work?

In Israel, where officers get nine weeks of training, behavioral screening is considered effective.

But most TSA screeners receive only four days’ instruction指導(某種技能/科目); the idea that they will be able to master the art of behavior recognition with such meager(數量)很少的、不足的 training is “preposterous荒謬.”

Meanwhile在此期間、(與此)同時, the Department of Homeland Security just finished testing an automated version版本 of SPOT using a device called Cogito, which works in a manner方式 similar to a polygraph測謊儀 device. Passengers answer a set of simple questions displayed on a touch screen while inserting插入 one hand into a sensor感測器 that measures biometric生物测定的 responses, such as sweat levels and blood pressure.
