Superman is one of the oldest superheroes who has jumped from comic-book pages onto the movie screen. But how was he created? In 1933, two AmericansJerry Siegel, a writer, and Joe Shuster, an artist—wanted to create a hero for the newspaper comics.

Eventually, they developed Superman: a champion who will always fight against evil. While no newspaper was interested in him, a comic-book publisher was. In June 1938, Action Comics #1 was published. Superman was introduced介紹,引見 to the world.

This hero was the first one to have amazing “superpowers”: he was super fast and super strong. Superman was almost invincible不可戰勝的;無法阻擋, and feared by bad guys everywhere. Instantly立即,馬上, he was a hit. Millions of boys and girls (and even adults) began buying Superman comics. They loved reading how Superman would conquer佔領;攻取;征服 villain流氓;惡棍, 罪犯 after villain.

In America during the 1930s, many people did not have jobs. Many felt hopeless. When they read about Superman’s adventures, they began to believe in a better future. Superman is no stranger to the mass media. He has been the star of newspaper cartoons, movies (released in 1978 and 2006), and television (first broadcast廣播(電視或無線電節目);播送 in 1951).

Young people today still enjoy his adventures. Superman may not have the most exciting personality. But people know they can always depend on him.
