【Hint】 (A) (B)Histological study of the effect of wearing denture on the keratinization of the mucosa of the crest of the residual ridge and the palate have produced conflicting result. However, most studies indicated that wearing denture does not seem to be harmful to the epithelium, even though in denture wearers the keratinization is of reduced thickness. Cytological studies indicate that increased amount of keratinized material are present in edentulous ridge when the clinical quality of the denture is good, an indication that well-fitting denture may be important in maintaining the normal histological condition of the mouth. (C)Stimulation of the mucosa of the residual ridge through toothbrush physiotherapy also increases the presence of keratinized material. (D)Histologically, removing denture from the mouth 6~8 hours a day, preferably during period of sleep, allow keratinization to increase and the signs of inflammation,often foud in the submucosa when denture are worn, to be dramatically reduced."
