Mifepristone（RU486）為黃體素拮抗劑，會競爭母體內黃體素的接受器，使母體黃體素無法作用在應作用的接受器上，導致母體子宮肌收縮，胚胎隨著子宮內膜自然崩落，以達到人工流產目的。
目前衛生福利部所核准的適應症為「懷孕前期（小於七週）子宮內孕之人工流產」。
