Teenagers, who love to play their music at a volume high enough for all the neighbors to hear, could likewise make the decision to use earphones when they wish to enjoy loud music, and convince their friends to do the same. Such changes in one's personal behavior are not difficult, and cost us nothing, but if we all were to cooperate, the benefits would be very substantial. Don't let “*uglification*,” a word coined by Lewis Carroll, be defined in the dictionary with a photo of Taiwan! Instead of making Taiwan an uglier place, why not choose to beautify her? You know, you and I can make a real difference. If we just decide to think of Taiwan with love, as our homeland, and not just politically, as a nation on a map, there is bound to be a natural change in our day-to-day actions.
