With Feet of Flames returning to Taipei Arena this month, it seems no more proof is needed that, 15 years after the original Riverdance, Michael Flatley's dynamic(充滿活力的) style of Irish dancing is just as popular as ever. Flatley was born in Chicago to Irish immigrant parents. At the age of eleven, he started taking Irish dancing classes. By the age of 17, he became the All World Irish Dancing champion. Flatley shot to fame after performing during the intermission(中場休息) of the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. This is a Europe-wide singing competition which draws a TV audience of millions. This original seven minute Riverdance act was quickly made into a full-length show and, a year later, Flatley left to produce and choreograph(舞蹈設計) his own show, Lord of the Dance. It was an instant(立即的) success, with venues(場地) selling out all over the world.
The spectacular(令人驚嘆的) Feet of Flames began its life in 1998, in London's Hyde Park, on a specially designed stage for an audience of 25,000. With 100 dancers, it was the biggest and most dazzling(光彩奪目的) dance show ever staged. Over the years, the shows have toured the whole world to sell-out audiences. The unique style of dancing has officially become a phenomenon!
