One is that the personal relationship between the nonsmoker and his/her former smoking friends becomes unnatural. Whenever he/she goes out with friends, these smoking friends would have to hide smoke related stuff such as lighter, ashtray, etc. away. In the long run, the frequency of gatherings will decrease. Eventually, this nonsmoker might lose quite a few friends who still smoke.
