以國小三年級健康與體育能力指標「辨識 食物的安全性並選擇健康的營養餐點」主題為例:

(一)Language of Learning強調學生學習學 科知識所涉及的語言,此部分語言溝通應該要學 習與營養和食物有關的單字,例如 nutrition facts, calories, fat, protein 等,以及課程內容所涉及的 辨別營養食物的用詞,例如 too much sugar, too much salt 等。

(二)Language for Learning強調學生在 CLIL 課堂上分組討論、合作學習時所需使用的語言。 國內老師多半會提供句型,讓學生使用特定句型 來進行發表,例如討論食物主題時,I think eating _____ is good for us because...。這類語言著重 的不僅止於學習目標句型,而是分組活動與他人 溝通時所需要的語言。

(三)Language through Learning強調課程中 學生經由主動學習思考、詢問資訊的過程,藉由語 言使用學習到的新知識、概念及語言。這部分語 言習得需透過課堂同儕或師生互動而產生,並非 教師所能事先預知的,須透過課室觀察才能得知, 而後在課堂中可重複使用 (recycle)。Language through Learning 是 CLIL 獨特的特色,著重的是 學科內容的學習、思考、知識與技術的應用等, 在英語及學科學習並重之下,學生會在課堂上不 經意脫口說出英語表達意見,例如要學生判斷健 康飲食,老師說 How about 20 cokes a day?,學生脫口而出 That's impossible. That's bad for us., 學 生 回 答 的 內 容 就 是 Language through Learning。CLIL 可以藉由英語溝通,建立有情境 脈絡、能用英語表達自己想法的環境。
