「情緒解放法」(Desuggestopedia註解1) 的發明人Georgi Lozanov相信語言學習的速度可以比一般人想像的要快很多。Lozanov表示，學習沒有效率，是因為學習者的心理障礙所致：學習者害怕表現不佳、害怕學習能力不好、害怕失敗，結果導致學習時沒有運用所有的心靈力量。為了要讓學習者發揮全力，必須移除(desuggested)他們的情意障礙。情緒解放法是情緒研究在教學上的應用，目的在於幫助學生移除擔心失敗或其他學習上的負面情緒，進而讓學生克服學習的障礙。
