The Soft Power in Taiwan-People
Visitors to Taiwan would certainly be amazed at the diversity of culture this beautiful island has to offer as a rich historical background has provided Taiwan with a multifaceted culture. Thus, I agree that people in Taiwan make it a beautiful place for the followings:
For peoples, various ethnic groups make Taiwan a fascinating diverse land. People with cultural backgrounds, Taiwanese indigenous people, the southern Fujian and Hakka settlers, the colonial Dutch, Spanish, Japanese, and the recent Asian immigrants altogether shape a diverse land. While developing a new culture indigenous to Taiwan, they preserve their respective customs and traditions; as a result, visitors will be able to sample the indigenous, Taiwanese, and Chinese cultures and even find the 17th-to-19th-century colonial traces when traveling in Taiwan.
For cultures, the earliest Chinese settlers and aboriginal people enrich Taiwanese cultures. Their traditional art such as glove puppetry, tai chi, and opera, have developed into a splendid cultural and social vehicle to entertain, educate, and preserve tradition. On the other hand, the aboriginal value is inscribed on the island. Their art took the form of beautiful houses, facial tattoos and clothes signifying tribal authority. In short, multiple cultures make Taiwan unique and beautiful.
For Taiwanese spirits, Taiwanese’s hospitality and generosity make Taiwan a friendly nation. During 311 Fukushima disaster, Taiwan showed strong empathy by sending immediate rescue team and the greatest amount of donation. Till now, such generosity is reminiscent in our Japanese friends’ heart. Taiwanese have great nature such as love of helping and sharing, law-abidance and politeness, which is conducive to foreigners’ visits.
